Dixie Chicks 南方小鸡乐队。他们应该是一支乡村音乐组合吧？

　　是的。很多人把Dixie Chicks翻译成"南方小鸡"。Dixie本来指的是美国的南部，因为她们也是来自德克萨斯州，位于美国的南部 Texas。而chick 本来是指小鸡，但它还有一个意思 用中国俗话说就是黄毛丫头。

　　听你这么一说，是不是把Dixie Chicks翻译成"南方小鸡" 是否有点不合适？

　　不是很合适，因为听起来有点怪。

　　那翻译成"南方女子组合" 也许更贴切一点。所以我想这3个女歌手成心用一种错误的复数形式来表明她们不是真正的小鸡。因为chick的复数形式应该是chicken，而不是chicks。所以"南方女子组合" 这个名字听起来更合适一些。

　　其实，这支乐队是一支很有影响力的乡村音乐组合，但同时，她们也是非常积极倡导和平的人士。比如这首 Travelin' Soldier就是关于战争题材的在这首歌里面，她们讲了一个非常动人、而且发人深省、同时也是一个很有意义的故事。

　　故事里的一个美国男孩，即将奔赴美国战场。他的心里充满了对战争的恐惧和无奈。他想为自己找一个心理寄托。一天，他在路上行走的时候遇到了一个女孩子。 他问她，能否把自己对于战争的感受写成信并寄给她。当他到达战场之后，男孩把自己对于战争的所有感受，都记录下来。通过信件，寄给了这个女孩。但不久后他再也没有信寄出。而有一天，在遥远的家乡，女孩突然听到了前线的阵亡名单…
